The Macao Cultural Centre, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, is challenging local filmmakers to submit their new cinematic views to be produced and screened in a new edition of “Local View Power” (LVP). Candidates willing to share their exciting perspectives about Macao must present their new projects till January 22, 2018.

With an overall budget of more than MOP1,000,000 for all its categories, this year’s edition will support up to 17 individual proposals. The competition welcomes candidates running on three experience levels, from “Advanced” and “Open” levels aimed at directors aged 18 or above, to “Freshmen” which welcomes all enthusiastic wannabes. Participants will be running into “Documentary”, “Short Feature” and “Animation” categories, who will be assessed by a panel composed of three audio-visual professionals.

LVP stimulates and nurtures creative works by both emerging and established filmmakers since 2007. These 10 editions were enthusiastically received with participants submitting over 500 proposals, a dynamic flow that has resulted in 104 finalized works, some of them, like Crash produced in 2016, have been awarded overseas, confirming LVP’s creative and productive path. Selected teams will be given technical and financial support to complete their productions, including a Mentorship scheme devised and tutored by guest professionals.

Those who wish to see their ideas displayed on the big screen may download application forms for “Local View Power 2017-2018” at CCM’s website until January 22, 2018. For further inquiries, please visit www.ccm.gov.mo, or call (853) 2870 0699.
