Directed by musician, researcher and self-taught Portuguese guitarist Pedro Caldeira Cabral, Concerto Atlântico is an ensemble comprised of musicians specialising in the interpretation of 15th and 16th-century repertoire. The group has performed to international acclaim, using period instruments and authentic practices honouring this ancient music’s most expressive qualities. In their “O Gloriosa Domina” concert, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, the ensemble’s historic instruments hail from the musical cultures of various lands including China.
