The Sydney Symphony is Australia's flagship orchestra. The Orchestra celebrated in 2007 its 75th anniversary, along with the milestones it has achieved during its distinguished history. In January 2009 world-renowned pianist and conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy took up the position of Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the Sydney Symphony.
