The
Macao Conservatory’s new academic year (2005/2006) now open for registration.
School of Music, School of Dance, and School of Drama all recruit students.
Macao Conservatory consists of three schools:
Music, Dance and Drama. The School of Dance provides both specialized and
general courses. Besides the “Full-time Intermediate Dancing Course” which aims
at training local dancing specialists, the School also provides many highly
qualified general courses for dancing lovers. The 11-year training courses in
Chinese Dance and Ballet Dance with curriculum including basic techniques and
practical performances help to foster students’ overall development. Other than
the above-said courses, the School has launched 3-year training courses in
“Chinese Dance for Youth” and “Modern Dance for Youth” in order to meet the
different needs of local dancing lovers. In addition, courses for preschool
children are available. Children can experience the pleasure of dancing through
playing games and singing songs. Also, rhythm and cooperation are as well
concerned.
In order to deepen the public’s understanding on
the School of Dance, the School will organize an open day on May 7. Two
promotional activities will be schedule at 10:30pm and 2:30pm respectively.
Parents are welcome to visit the School with their children and to watch
demonstrations of the courses so as to experience the fun of learning to dance.
The School of Music offers courses in western
instruments, Chinese instruments, vocal music, wind instruments, music theory,
music history and designated topic seminars in order to provide to the students
deeper understandings and boarder musical trainings. Aside from in-class
learning, the School has also established the Chamber Music Group, String
Instrument Team, Wind Instrument Team and the Orchestra. To offer students with
opportunities to gain experience on stage, the School organizes regular concerts
and performances for students to have an all-round musical education. With the
hard work of teachers and students, many of the Conservatory’s students have
become professional performers. The School is well equipped with a variety of
wind instruments and Chinese instruments, such as oboe, horn, trumpet, zhongruan,
suona horn and pipe, all of which are the main categories for enrolment.
The
School of Drama offers courses in “Theatre for Children”, “Theatre for Youth”,
“Staging”, “Dramaturgy” and “Theatre Education” to provide comprehensive,
diverse and systematic training. Courses in dramaturgy and education allow
student to gain more knowledge in drama. The School also have courses for
children and youth. This year, the School has launched the “Parents-Children
Drama Course”. Through having class together with their parents, children will
be encouraged to voice out their opinions and, in doing so, increase their
creativeness. Moreover, it helps to strengthen the interactions between parents
and children.
All applicants must go through admission exams.

Applicants will be informed of the schedule and content of the admission exam
during registration.
The registration period starts from May 2 to May
19. The time for registration is everyday (except May 5, which is a public
holiday) from Monday to Sunday from 10am to 7pm (inclusive of lunch time).
