In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the victory of war against Japan, the Macao SAR Government and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR have jointly organised an ‘Exhibition to Commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War’. The event is undertaken by the Government Information Bureau, Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Macao Daily News, with support from the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau and the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau. In tandem with the exhibition, the Macao Museum, under the auspices of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, and the Department of History of Faculty of Social Sciences of University of Macau (UM) will jointly organise a special seminar ‘Witnessing the Catastrophe: The Portuguese and the War in Canton (1938-1939)’ from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on September 26, presented by Professor António Vasconcelos de Saldanha of the Department of History at University of Macau. Interested parties are welcome to register for the seminars.
The seminar will take place in the auditorium of the Macao Museum and will be conducted in English, with Cantonese interpretation. The admission is free but with limited seats available. If needed, docent services are available for schools and youth organizations. Booking can be made seven days in advance of the visit, with each session up to 50 visitors in maximum.
