Press Conference and Promotion of ‘Parade through Macao, Latin City’ – VIVA Launch into Space - Celebration for the Whole City

Date of publication: 20/11/2014
Type: Macau Latin Parade

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) the ‘Parade through Macao, Latin City’ Press Conference and the ‘VIVA Launch into Space’ Ceremony are open to the public at 2:00pm on Sunday 23rd November at the SCM Old Ladies’ House, in the St. Lazarus District. The ceremony begins with the premiere of the promotional video of the event introducing the theme of this year’s Parade. Other activities will include an exhibition of the winning entries in last year’s photography competition as well as a candy corner and a photography zone. All are welcome to join the event and experience the festive atmosphere of the parade.

This edition of the Parade revolves around an encounter between VIVA and mysterious alien friends. In the video to be screened the mysterious alien friends visit several locations in the Historic Centre of Macao looking for ways to save their planet, in a plot that will surely capture the attention of spectators. In order to further promote the event, the organiser will install a candy corner where free Parade themed candy will be available. There is also a photography zone where the public can choose props and use a frame themed around the event to take fun photographs. In addition, the winning entries from last year’s photography competition will be displayed, with IC employees on hand to distribute promotional and informational material about the Parade.

As the largest outdoor event celebrating Macao’s Handover to China the ‘Parade through Macao, Latin City’ has been a great success since its first edition in 2011, gathering every year dozens of local and international performance groups who give their best for the viewing public. The organiser has also arranged for the best local groups to perform abroad, thus promoting the unique culture of Macao overseas.
