Jointly organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. Government and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Hong Kong, the exhibition Polish Film Poster Design at Its Best is scheduled to open at 6:30pm on the 14th of December, at Tap Seac Gallery in Macao. The exhibition showcases 44 film posters designed by 15 renowned Polish artists during a period spanning 40 years beginning in the 1950s. The posters are diverse and stylistically unique, capturing the essence of Polish design and demonstrating the playful and experimental spirit of film posters.
Polish poster design is highly regarded in global design circles. The works on display in this exhibition each have their own distinctive style, establishing a fascinating timeline for the development of Polish film poster design in the second half of the last century. The selected works provide exhibition-goers the opportunity to witness firsthand the varied approaches and collective achievement of Polish film poster designers, who unleashed their creativity within the realities of their era, expressing profound thought and meaning.
The 15 designers featured in this exhibition, active in various periods during the late 20th century, are all internationally acclaimed and have won numerous awards between them. Among them are Eryk Lipiński, Władysław Janiszewski, Jan Lenica, Marcin Mroszczak and Wiesław Walkuski.
Polish Film Poster Design at Its Best will be open for viewing from 10am to 7pm at Tap Seac Gallery and run from December 15th until February 24th, 2013. Admission is free, and all residents are welcome to come and appreciate the variety of wonderful film posters on display.
