“Macao
Horizons – Contemporary Art Exhibition”, in addition to the Macao Annual Art
Exhibition, is a new project of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R.
Government. The theme “Macao Horizons” aims to stimulate contemporary art
production with characteristics reflecting Macao’s influence by globalization,
and in doing so, explore the future development of art in Macao. The exhibition
kicked off yesterday afternoon at Tap Seac Gallery.
The exhibition aims to seek out new talents and
to support new Macao artists by promoting their creativity in modern art and
ability to use multi-media. A total of 42 exhibition plans were received,
including painting installations, ink wash paintings, photography, calligraphy,
digital images, sculptures, videos, installations and mixed media. Some even
adopted a cross-media approach to convey their meaning. The organizer invited
local professional artists to form the selection panel. Twelve plans were
selected. The works, divided into two sections, will be exhibited from July 10
to September 3 and from September 9 to November 5 respectively in the Tap Seac
Gallery.
The
organizer found the quality of the exhibition plans very satisfactory. After
holding the first exhibition, the organizer will carry out a series of
evaluations and amendments before it announces the next acceptance for entries.
Also, artists interested in joining the next exhibition are advised to learn
from this year’s works so as to perfect their future exhibition plans.
Besides providing a platform for artists to
display their works, the organizer also holds different types of art education
activities such as the vivid and interactive art education corners – “Macao
Street and Her Vivid Cultures”, “Macao Events and Festivals” and “Game Corner”.
Guiding services will also be provided to schools, organizations and
associations and to the public as well.
“Macao Horizons – Contemporary Art Exhibition” is
now on display at Tap Seac Gallery. The opening hours of the Tap Seac Gallery
are everyday from 10am to 7pm. All are welcome.
