In order to protect the Ruins of St. Paul’s College (former Mater Dei Church), the Cultural Affairs Bureau conducts regular structural monitoring, weeding and inspection of bronze statues of the former Mater Dei Church every year.

This year’s monitoring works of the former Mater Dei Church will be carried out from the early morning of 16 November to 8am and from 6pm to 8am on the following day, and from 17 to 20 November, from 6pm to 8am. In conjunction with the monitoring works, vehicles which serve as working platform will be temporarily parked. Barricades will be placed in the forecourt and staircase, separating the intervention area from the public. During the aforementioned period, the respective area will remain open to the public during the day time, and visitors’ experience will not be affected.

In addition, the weeding and inspection of the bronze statues will be carried out from 6am to 6pm on 23 November, and therefore fire engines will be parked in the forecourt of the former Mater Dei Church. In order to ensure public safety, the Ruins of St. Paul’s College (including the Sacred Art Museum and Crypt) will be temporarily closed to the public on that day. Barricades will be placed in the forecourt and staircase, separating the intervention area from the public.
