“2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film Production Investment and Trade Fair” inaugurated today

The “2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film Production Investment and Trade Fair” (hereinafter referred to as “the Fair”), co-organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR, the Film Administration of Guangdong Province and Create Hong Kong, is held from 10 to 11 September, attracting the participation of producers of 15 film projects and 54 investors from the three regions.

The opening ceremony of the “2019 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Film Production Investment and Trade Fair cum Macao Film Week” was held on 10 September at the Macau University of Science and Technology and was officiated by the Acting President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Leong Wai Man; the Deputy Director of the Film Administration of Guangdong Province, Lu Zhongguang; the Assistant Head of Create Hong Kong of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Mak Sing Hei; the Vice Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Hoi Io Meng; the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Arts of the Macau University of Science and Technology, Zhang Zhiqing; and the Director of the opening film of the Macao Film Week Singing Man, Keo Lou. The ceremony was followed by the screening of Singing Man, which drew the attention of many spectators.

In addition to the “Open Pitch” held at the Handover Gifts Museum of Macao, this year’s Fair also features a new highlight, the Macao Film Week. Selected local films will be screened with free admission at the Cinematheque・Passion and the Macau University of Science and Technology from 11 to 14 September. Furthermore, the sharing session “Action! Survival Handbook for Filmmakers” will be held in Hall D of the Macau University of Science and Technology from 11am to 12pm on 11 September. The sharing session will be hosted by the President of the Macau Association of Audio-Visual “CUT”, Albert Chu Iao Ian, and co-presented by the Director of the film Men on the Dragon and lecturer of the School of Film and Television at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Chan Wing Sun, and the Director of the film The Age of Hangover and the photographer of the film Blue Amber, Mike Ao Ieng. 

Since its inception in 2014, the Fair aims to provide a high-quality and convenient communication platform for film investors and producers from the three regions, establish a channel for film investment and collaboration among the regions, support the production of small-to-medium budget film projects and cultivate filmmaking talent and promotes the development of the film industries in the three regions.
