Some Public Libraries of the Cultural Affairs
Bureau affected by the typhoon are temporarily closed

Due to the influence of typhoon Hato, the public libraries under the Cultural Affairs Bureau are temporarily closed today (24 August) for thorough inspection and cleaning works. The majority of the libraries will resume services tomorrow (25 August). However, the Patane Library, Red Market Library, Coloane Library and the Mobile Library are seriously damaged, and therefore their reopening dates will be announced later. In addition, the reopening dates will be announced later for the following libraries located in parks, including the Library in Ho Yin Garden, Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Municipal Park and Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Luís de Camões Garden, as they were affected by the parks closure.


The electronic resources at the libraries will remain in service. Due to the libraries closure, all library materials with current return dates from 23 to 31 August are extended to 1 September. For enquiries, citizens can call the Public Library through tel. 2856 7576 or 2855 8049 during opening hours (Mondays to Sundays, 10am to 8pm).


The public libraries which will resume normal services on 25 August include: Macao Central Library, Sir Robert Ho Tung Library, IACM Building Library, S. Lourenço Library, Ilha Verde Library, Mong Ha Library, Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Areia Preta Urban Park, Wong Ieng Kuan Children’s Library in Areia Preta Urban Park, Taipa Library (entrancethrough the Taipa Central Park’s carpark) and the Wong Ieng Kuan Library in Taipa.
