Service Name: Age Classification for Performing Arts in Macao
 
Service Description: All public performances and film screenings must go through the process of age classification before they can be held. The Assessment Committee of Performing Arts is responsible for offering advice on the classification and audience admission of all public performances, film screenings and public entertainment in Macao. (Decree-Law no. 15/78/M).
 
Service Target: Hosting venues or organising units of all public performances and film screenings in Macao must submit the relevant application.

Required Notice:

For an event featuring one single performance/screening, the relevant application should be submitted in person to the Assessment Committee of Performing Arts no less than 72 hours prior to the event.

For an event featuring multiple performances/screenings (such as a large/small-scale film festival or screening of a collection of films), please refer to the Service Quality Standards for more information.
 

Application Method:

Please submit the application in person to the office of the Assessment Committee of Performing Arts.
 

Materials to Be Submitted:
  1. Completed application form for the Assessment Committee of Performing Arts (and available for purchase for MOP 3 each at the office of the Assessment Committee of Performing Arts). Please refer to the Sample of Application Form for Performance and the Sample of Application Form for Film Screening for information on how to fill out the application form(s); 2.
  2. Written introduction(s) of the content of the performance(s) or the film(s);
  3. The exact same film(s) to be screened at the actual event;
  4. Photo(s), poster(s) and script(s) of the performance(s) (if applicable);
  5. Photo(s) and poster(s) of the film screening(s) (if applicable).
     
Fee: No application fee will be charged.
 
Notification of Result:
  1. Upon completion of the whole application process, the Committee will send the age classification result to the email address provided on the application form. The applicant can also visit the office of the Committee to apply for a hard copy of the result.
  2. On the application form for the Assessment Committee of Performing Arts, the applicant can opt for the return of the submitted materials after the application process has been completed. [Note: If any external storage device(s) (such as DVD, USB, and Hard Disk Drive) is involved in the submission(s), the applicant must collect the device(s) at the office of the Committee.]
     
Additional Information:
  1. For applications of film screening, the applicant should fill out one application form for each film. Where two or more films are put together on one single application form, the application is considered to be filed for the screening of a collection of films. The Committee will take the strictest age classification result among those of all the films listed on the application form as the final result of the application.
  2. When an application is filed for a performance by the hosting venue with the purpose of applying for or renewing the “Administrative License – Shows and Performances” issued by the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), the applicant only needs to submit a declaration form together with the application form. The Committee can help to send the age classification result of the performance to the IAM.
Age Classification Categories:

The age classification categories for public performances and film screenings adopted by the Committee are as below:

Group A – Suitable for all ages
Group B – Not suitable for audiences aged under 13
Group C – Not suitable for audiences aged under 18, and restricted for those aged under 13
Group D – Prohibited for audiences aged under 18

Pornography – Prohibited for audiences aged under 18 and subject to the regulation of a specific law (Law no. 10/78/M).
