INVITED ARTISTS

ANABELA CANAS — Born in Santarém, Province of Ribatejo, Portugal. MA in Painting (1987), by the Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa (Lisbon High School of Fine Arts), Lisbon. The same year moved to Macao where she is still living. Her work was shown in one-person and group exhibitions held in India, Japan, Macau and Portugal. Her work is represented in the Art Collections of the Autoridade Monetária e Cambial de Macau (Monetary and Foreign Exchange Authority of Macao), Fundação Oriente (Orient Foundation), Governo de Macau (Government of Macao) and the Instituto Cultural de Macau (Cultural Institute of Macao) — all in Macao.

CINDY NG SIO IENG 吴少英 — Born in Macao. Studied Drawing in the Associação de Belas Artes de Macau (Macao Fine Arts Association), Macao. Attended workshops in Drawing and Engraving in the Academia de Artes Visuais de Macau (Macao Visual Arts Academy), under the orientation of James Wong, Bartolomeu dos Santos and Mio Pang Fei, amongst others. Exhibited in Great Britain, Hong Kong, Japan, Macao and Portugal. Award winner of the Concurso de Gravura da Academia de Artes Visuais 1992 (1992 Engraving Competition of the Macao Visual Arts Academy), Macao.

ELSA CÉSAR — Born in Oporto. Studied Sculpture in the Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto (Oporto High School of Fine Arts), Oporto. Assistant Lecturer at the Arts and Crafts Department of the Escola Superior de Educação (College of Education), Oporto. MA in Fine Arts (1990) from Goldsmith's College, University of London. Bursar of the Oporto Polytechnic Institute. Her work was shown in one-person and group exhibitions held in Great Britain, France and Portugal. Winner of the "Vinho do Porto" (1991) and "Júlio Resende" (1992) Awards.

FERNANDA DIAS — Born in Moura, Province of Baixo Alentejo, Portugal. In 1986 moved to Macao where he is still living. Since 1987 has been a member of the Studio of Visual Arts, Macao, headed by the Engraver James Wong. Teaches at the Liceu de Macau (Macao Official Secondary School) and gives courses of Engraving at the Academia de Artes Visuais de Macau (Macao Visual Arts Academy), Macao.

JAIME AZINHEIRA — Born in Peniche, Province of Estremadura, Portugal. Studied Fine Arts, specializing in Sculpture at the Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto (Oporto High School of Fine Arts), Oporto. His work was shown in one-person and group exhibitions held in Germany and Portugal. His work is represented in the Art Collections of the Municipal Library of Vila Nova de Gaia; the Town Hall of Vila Nova de Cerveira; the Clube Náutico Caminhense (Nautical Clube of Caminha), Caminha; Fundação de Serralves (Serralves Foundation), Oporto; and the Centro de Arte Moderna (Modern Art Centre) of the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation), Lisbon — all in Portugal.

JOANA LING 琥茹 — Born in Singapore. Graduated by the Singa-pore Ministry of Education Teacher Training College, Singapore. Moved to Macao in 1980 where she is still living. Bursar of the Fundação Oriente (Orient Foundation). In 1989 studied at AR. CO Centro de Artes e Comunicação Social (Social Comunication and Arts Centre), Lisbon. In 1993 joined the Núcleo de Pintura do Círculo dos Amigos da Cultura de Macau (Painting Nucleus of the Circle of Friends of Culture of Macao), Macao. Her work was shown in one-person and group exhibitions held in Hong Kong, Macao, the People's Republic of China, Singapore and Taiwan. Honorable mention at the Iḁ– Bienal de Artes de Macau (First Macao Biennial Art Exhibition). Winner at the Singapore Art Awards 1995.

MARGARIDA CHEUNG 张美雅 — Showed her first Engraving works in 1987, since then having participated in several one-person and group exhibitions. Her most recent work entitled "Emotions" graphically explores the complexity of transformation procedures and sensorial alterations.

NUNO BARRETO — Lecturer at the Escola de Belas Artes do Porto (Oporto High School of Fine Arts), Oporto. Director of the Academia de Artes Visuais de Macau (Macao Visual Arts Academy), Macao. Painter.

UN CHI IAM 袁之钦 — Studied Painting in the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Art Institute of Nanjing, Nanjing. One of the founders of the Núcleo de Pintura do Círculo dos Amigos da Cultura de Macau (Painting Nucleus of the Circle of Friends of Culture of Macao), Macao. His work was shown in one-person and group exhibitions held in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Macao, Malaysia, Portugal, Singapore and Taiwan: Winner of the Chinese Painting Award in the Fifth and Sixth Exhibitions of Works by Artists of Macao, held in Macao.

HO-SANG WONG 黄豪生— MFA in Photography (1991) by the Art Centre College of Design, Pasadena, California. Bursar of the Instituto Cultural de Macau (Cultural Institute of Macao) for the research and production of the project "Interiores" ("Interiors"), exhibited in Macao, in 1993. Taught Photography courses at the Art Center College of Design and Photography workshops at the Academia de Artes Visuais de Macau (Macao Visual Arts Academy), Macao. His most recent works combine digital technologies and conventional photographic techniques.

UKUOI WANG (YEE KUOK WANG) 余国宏— Graduated by the Foshan Yishu Xueyu 佛山艺术学院 (High School of Art of Foshan), nowadays University of Foshan., in Guangdong. Moved to Macao in the late seventies, where he is still living. His work was shown in one-person and group exhibitions held in Macao, Guangzhou and Shanghai. Guest Lecturer of the Dongfang Wenxue Yishu Yanjiu Hui东方文学研究会(Association of Oriental Art and Literature), Macao. Vice-President of the Aomen Meishu Xiehui 澳门美术协会(Association of Macanese Artists), in Macao. His work is represented in the Art Collections of the Zhongguo Meishuguan (Beijing)中国美术馆(北京)(National Museum of Chinese Fine Arts) and the Zhongguo Lishi Bowuguan中国历史博物馆 (Museum of Chinese History), in Beijing; in the Shanghai Meishu Guan 上海美术馆 (Muncipal Museum of Fine Arts), in Shanghai; and in the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, in Paris.
