Granddaughter of a conductor and daughter of a fado singer, Marta de Sousa was born in Faro on December 31st, 1992. Whilst still in her cradle, she would accompany her parents on fado nights, being carried around by fado singers and falling asleep to the sound of the guitars.

Today, she jokes saying "there was no way of escaping fado". She started singing at the age of seven, and in her teens her father encouraged her to take part in fado competitions (to gain "stage presence"), winning her first prizes.

Fado stopped being so present when she moved to the capital to study at the University of Lisbon in the Faculty of Law. When she felt homesick, she would go to the Tascas and Fado Houses in Bairro Alto and Alfama to listen to fado. It was on one of these evenings that, surrounded by friends, she told them in confidence that she also sang. She sang that night and never stopped. Today, more than a decade later, she sings professionally all over the country, most notably in Lisbon's best-known Fado Houses.

With the aim of offering a diverse experience to the public, in addition to the guest fado singers' performances, spectators will also be able to enjoy typical Portuguese snacks and drinks in the theatre's gallery starting from 6pm to the sound of live music performed by local musicians with electric piano, Portuguese guitar, classical guitar, violin, saxophone, clarinet, among other instruments.

At the same time, the gallery will host an exhibition on the origins and evolution of fado throughout the ages, displaying information, photographs, instruments, old newspaper cuttings and other pertinent pieces related to the history of fado, providing visitors with a better understanding of the cultural significance and artistic value of fado, classified by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
