The brilliant and utterly stunning violin and cello duo of Madalyn and Cicely Parnas, known as duo parnas, possess the rare combination of passion and fiery technique coupled with sophisticated musicianship and a maturity well beyond their years.

Granddaughters of the legendary cellist Leslie Parnas, both sisters are gifted and respected soloists in their own right. Over the last fifteen years, they have engaged in an artistic collaboration that has been described as “an intricate give and take between the cello and violin, perfectly balanced and suffused with electricity and drama.” Duo parnas first came to the attention of the international music scene by winning 1st prize at the 2008 International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition in Carnegie Hall. Since then, they have toured as guest soloists with various orchestras and chamber ensembles, and released two internationally acclaimed recordings. Madalyn and Cicely also collaborate with award-winning composers, including Pulitzer Prize recipient Paul Moravec, who has written a dedicated composition entitled Parnas Duo, featured in this concert, alongside works by Haydn, Honegger, Tcherepnin, Ravel and Händel. Get ready for a technically flawless performance that skillfully balances musical brilliance and artistic warmth!

“The duo Parnas [...] gave the piece an electrifying reading, couching it in a lush tone and executing its complex interplay with pinpoint precision.” - Allan Kozinn, The New York Times
