Founded in 1965 in Seoul, the Korean Chamber Orchestra has established itself as one of the leading chamber orchestras both at home and abroad. Its international renown has grown tremendously since 1979, when the orchestra came under the leadership of current music director Min Kim. The Orchestra has given numerous concerts across the globe to great acclaim, collaborating with internationally celebrated soloists and performing in the world’s prominent festivals.

For this concert, the Korean Chamber Orchestra joins hands with one of the most promising violinists in Asia, Zia Hyunsu Shin. Shin has won prizes in some of the world’s major violin competitions, among them the 3rd Prize in the Queen Elizabeth International Violin Competition (2012), the 1st Great Prize in the Long-Thibaud International Competition (2008) and the 2nd Prize and Audience Prize in the Hannover International Violin Competition (2006). Her musical career is extraordinarily diverse, boasting performances with many of the world’s major international orchestras. Shin performs on the “Ex Strauss” violin by Antonio Stradivari (Cremona, 1708), sponsored by the SAMSUNG Foundation of Culture and the Stradivari Society.
