There was once a time when a tiny foot was a symbol of beauty and a good beginning on the road to power. In this Asia of antiquity lived Ge Xianglian, for whom the suffering of foot binding guaranteed a future, but silenced the laughter of childhood. Will she have the courage to condemn her own daughter to the same torture?

Only recently have The Golden Lotus Feet worn their miniature shoes upon the stage. This is a lost tradition lately restored to the public eye by the famous Wuhan Beijing Opera Theatre for the Macao Arts Festival.

With surtitles in Chinese, Portuguese and English
