Led by the newly assigned musical director and principal conductor, Liu Sha, the Macao Chinese Orchestra 2018-2019 Season Opening Concert will also feature specially invited famous erhu performer Yu Hongmei, doctoral advisor and Vice President of the Central Conservatory of Music, andguqin performer Zhao Xiaoxia, Associate Professor at the Central Conservatory of Music, as soloist. In this event, the National Orchestra new musical piece Red Litchis, created by composer Luo Ziyi, will be performed for the first time in Macao. This very rich song in Lingnan style has innovative and familiar elements, that will undoubtedly attract Macao music fans. Professor Yu Hongmei will also interpret the erhu concerto Amannisa, inspired by the works of the famous Uyghur artist with the same name, Amannisa, concubine of Abdurashit Khan of the Yerqiang (Yarkand) kingdom. This song is assigned for erhu Competition at the Chinese Golden Bell Awards for Music. With her interpretation, music fans will be able to unveil a mysterious and ancient kingdom, long lost in time.
