Born into a musical family in South Korea, Kyung-wha Chung began playing the violin at the age of six and left her country to study at the Juilliard School in New York while in her teens. International fame came fast on the heels of her win at the prestigious Leventritt Competition, in 1967, after which she embarked upon a music career in North America and Europe, appearing and collaborating with the world’s finest orchestras. Throughout her life as a violin soloist and recitalist, she has garnered global recognition of the very highest stature. She was awarded the Medal of Civil Merit, the South Korean Government’s highest honour, in 1972, and the Ho-Am Prize in the Arts in 2011, among numerous other honours, including the London Sunday Times Culture Award and the title of Honorary Ambassador of the United Nations Drug Control Programme. She was even cited by the London Sunday Times as one of the most crucial contributors to the British cultural scene. Kyung-wha Chung now lives in South Korea and is a Chair Professor of Music at Ewha University in Seoul.

Collaborating with Kyung-wha Chung is the talented American pianist Kevin Kenner, whose artistry in music is globally recognised by his win of several honours in the world’s most esteemed competitions. His interpretations of Chopin and Schumann are particularly articulate, and Kenner is acclaimed as the best player in the rendering of these two musicians’ great works after Artur Rubinstein, Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli and Dinu Lipatti.
