Requiem

An unfinished work at the time of Mozart’s death, the enigma surrounding the Requiem Mass abounds. Upon receiving a note from an “unknown, gray stranger” to write a new mass, Mozart died not knowing the identity of his patron, instead channeling his remaining creative energy on his own impending mortality. How much of this work was written by Mozart’s own hand? Who helped complete this masterpiece? How does Mozart’s own obsessions and untimely death affect listeners and performers of this moving swang song? Please join the Macao Orchestra and Music Director Lü Jia as they explore the questions and legacy left by this brilliant composer. For this occasion, Macao Orchestra invited the 17-year-old pianist Zinan Huang, currently studying with Meng Chieh Liu, the professor of Curtis Institute of Music, USA, to interpret Mozart’s Piano Concerto in C minor. A show not to be missed!
