Multi-award-winning pianist Oliver Triendl joins the Sine Nomine String Quartet for a magnificent chamber music concert featuring works by Mozart, Ravel and Schumann at the Dom Pedro V Theatre. Founded in 1975 in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Sine Nomine Quartet – whose name is Latin for “No Name”, symbolising the devotion of these artists to the composers whose music they perform – has existed in its present formation since 1982. In nearly two decades of playing together, the members have developed a remarkable, finely tuned sensitivity to each other’s musical thinking. In 1985, the Quartet won first prize at the Evian International String Quartet Competition, and two years later, they were winners at the first Paolo Borciani Competitions. Since then, the group has been showered with invitations to perform in such prestigious concert halls as Carnegie Hall in New York and Wigmore Hall in London, never failing to garner critical acclaim.

“This is a quartet that thinks and plays together in an easy, unforced ensemble, and one for whom intonational or rhythmic problems hardly exist.”
