The jazz mavericks of the Instant Composers Pool
bring to the stage the intense fever of composition so often hidden away in the
private world of a musician's studio. That joy of spontaneous creation is in
plain view for everyone in the audience to see and hear, every time they
perform. This group of ten unique musicians blends a virtuosic and sometimes
humorous chamber music approach to well known songs by composers such as Duke
Ellington, Thelonious Monk, and Hoagy Carmichael, with the unpredictable and
chaotic personality wars of a free-jazz ensemble, making music with and
sometimes against each other in a game-based improvisation.
