Délia, a substitute drama teacher, and Giselda, a former gambling promoter on the verge of poverty, see their lives intersect when she accepts the seemingly childish challenge of getting a shy, stuttering girl on stage. This challenge becomes a public bet that Giselda desperately wants to promote. If, for her, this challenge is a new chance in life, for the teacher it represents an act of courage that she has never experienced in her life.

Patuá theatre, performed by the Macanese community, is a unique type of performance, enlisted at the Intangible Cultural Heritage of China back in 2021. Macanese Patuá is a creole based on ancient Portuguese with winks of Malay, Spanish, Canarese, English and Cantonese. It fully reflects Macao’s cosmopolitan nature where East meets West, with a lively coexistence of cultures.
