The 6th Hong Kong Dancing Star Contest was organized by the Star Kids Art Development Centre at the Youth Square in Chai Wan, Hong Kong, and included the categories of Ballet, Chinese Dances, Jazz, Acrobatic Dance and Latin Dances. Five Macao Conservatory School of Dance’s students, under the guidance of teacher Zhang Yanjun, won the Gold Medal with “Jasmine Feelings” in the Chinese Dances – Ensemble category. Bronwyn Hui Haywood, in turn, performed a one act variation of Swan Lake for three female dancers, under the guidance of teacher Qu Xiaoyi, and won the Gold Medal for Ballet Solo in the children’s category. The results will bring encouragement to these students who have only been receiving professional dance training for two years. The contest also allowed students to gain valuable experience in competitions, thereby establishing a solid foundation for their future professional development.
The School of Dance has been investing on theoretical learning in the classroom but also on practical learning through performance, offering, in addition to the full-time programme training, exchange and performance opportunities in local and foreign competitions, thereby allowing its students to broaden their artistic horizons at international level and expand their achievements, hoping, through all kinds of competitions, to share with the world the achievements of Macao’s dance artistic training as well as conquer an even higher reputation to Macao in the professional dance field.
