The visual arts open new paths for reflection in the Review of Culture No. 63

Macao's artistic variety, its internationalization and trends, followed by an essay on the life and work of local artist Mio Pang Fei, open issue no. 63 of Review of Culture.

In the column Macao Studies, several authors discuss the urban history of Macao and Hong Kong; the roles of Portugal and Macao in establishing the maritime Silk Road; the talks between Chinese and Portuguese authorities on the fight against opium trafficking in the region; and the Darwinist controversy that arose in Macao and Hong Kong at the end of the 19th century.

In the next column, an essay discussing the presence of Confucius in Portuguese culture and the role played by Macao in the diffusion of Eastern ideas and ideals is followed by a book review of Alan Richard Sweeten's most recent work that introduces the old Catholic churches in China.

The column of Classical Chinese literature resumes in this issue with a theoretical essay dedicated to the canon and writing, the orality and stylization of words.
