Summary

This collection includes all the works of Zhou Chunya’s large-scale solo exhibition held at the Macao Museum of Art in 2015. Inspired by the painting language of the Four Wangs and Four Monks of the Ming and Qing dynasties, the artist uses traditional Chinese symbols and brushstrokes to combine Western artistic style to depict Taihu stones, pavilions, trees and branches, flowers and landscapes, looking for a visual language different from Western art and traditional Chinese art. Through these works, the artist reveals his interest in traditional culture and classical gardens, and tries to reflect the feelings of Eastern culture in the hustle and bustle of the world through his ideas and artistic mood. The works show a return of Zhou Chunya’s art after the pursuit of realism in painting.
