Kwan, Shan Ming Benny

Born in Hong Kong, Benny Kwan began learning Horn at the Music Office. In 1988, he won the First Prize (Horn solo) in Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. In 1989, he entered the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Art and graduating with professional diploma. In 1990, he got a scholarship to join the Pan Pacific Music Camp in Australia. In 1991-1995, he joined the Asian Youth Orchestra and toured to Japan, Korea, United State, German, Vienna and Amsterdam. Also, he has been a member of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta since 1991.
Benny actively supports the development of bands and ensemble in Hong Kong. Apart from teaching Horn in various primary and secondary schools, he engages in various bands and ensembles. Invited by Hong Kong Young Musicians’ Wind Orchestra, he gave a performance with the other Horn players in Hong Kong Sinfonietta as a Horn quartet in September 2007.
Benny also gave a concert with other professional players as a Brass quintet in December 2007. As a guest player of Hong Kong Performers Winds, Benny has been invited to play in two annual concerts of HKPW in 2006 and 2007.
