Chinese/Western Instrument Born in or after 1995 and holding a valid Macao Resident ID Card
Vocal Born in or after 1991 and holding a valid Macao Resident ID Card

2Notes

  1. Participant should use the name identical to his/her Macao Resident ID Card;
  2. A Participant may compete in no more than four categories, and shall choose only one level in each category; Participants in Concerto Category are not permitted to compete in both the Elementary and Intermediate Levels for the same instrument;
  3. Participants should apply for the competition level in accordance with their own level of musical ability. Application for falsely sign up in a competition level lower than one’s level is strictly prohibited; if non-conformity between a Participant’s declared musical level and competition level is found, the organizer reserves the right to disqualify him/her from the competition, and cancel his/her prize won;
  4. If less than three Participants/ teams enroll in a Category, the organizer reserves the right to cancel the relevant competition, and Participants shall not raise any objections; under such circumstance, registration fee will be refunded; except in this case, no registration fee paid will be refunded;
  5. First-prize winners of any of these catergories in the past Macao Young Musicians Competition are not eligible to compete in the same catergories again;
  6. For “Instrumental Ensemble”, a Participant shall not participate in more than one team within the same Category;
  7. Students majoring in relevant music instrument performance or vocal performance, in diploma or Bachelor’s Degree programmes or above at any music academies or higher education institutions, as well as students of a high school affiliated to a music academy, including " Cursos de Técnica de Música" of the Macao Conservatory, full-time professional musicians engaging in relevant musical instrument or vocal music performance profession, are ineligible to compete.

3Methods

  1. To protect the right and interests of participants , Participants shall register or submit information in person; participants of E nsemble categories can appoint a team representative to submit all required documents;
  2. There are two registration methods available: Online Registration and On-site Registration. Details are:

5Submission by Authorized Representative or Group Registration

  1. To protect the right and interests of participants, they shall authorize a authorized person to register or submit the required documents in the event that participants themselves are not able to complete the registration in person, under the condition that the participants should ensure that all the required documents are ready and corret, and that the information consiisting in the Letter of Authorization of the registration form is filled up and signed; the authorized person should present on the registration site the original of his/her identity document for verification;
  2. For submission of 10 of above application, Participants may choose to register or submit information collectively; in such case, a Name List of Group Registration (Form C) should be submitted along with Registration Form and required documents;
  3. If choosing to register or submit information collectively, Participants are required to complete the Letter of Authorization in each Registration Form or Registration Slip (for online registration), and the authorized person should present, on the registration site, the original of his/her identity document for verification.

6Notes on changes of information

  1. Participants are not allowed to change their competition categories, levels and pieces (either free choice or compulsory pieces) after registration;
  2. To protect the rights and interests of participants, a Form for Request of Change of Information (Form D) must be submitted in person by the participant requesting any change of information. If the Participant or team representative is not able to submit the form personally, he or she must fill in an Letter of Authorization to give authorization to a authorized person, who must present his or her original, valid Macao Resident ID Card for verification when submitting the form;
  3. If the Participant needs to change the order of performance due to special circumstances, he or she must fill in a Form for Request of Change of Information (Form D) and submit it in person at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building between 10:00 and 19:00 (including lunch hour). Change of the order of performance is not valid without being approved by the Organizer;
  4. If the Participant must change the order of performance on short notice due to an emergency, he or she must fill in a Form for Request of Change of Information (Form D) and submit it in person, along with a documented evidence (e.g. medical certificate), at the Cultural Affairs Bureau Building or the competition venue no later than two working days before the date of competition. Any change of the order of performance is not valid without being approved by the Organizer;

7Notes on Borrowing Musical Instruments and Equipment

  1. A Grand Piano (Hz=A440) and music stands are available at the competition venue. Application is not required for borrowing them;
  2. Some musical instruments and equipment are provided for borrowing. The Participants registering online shall fill in related forms and submit them when registering, whereas participant shall submit a form of Request for Borrowing Musical Instruments and Equipment (Form E) upon on-site registration;
  3. Please see the appendix for musical instruments and equipment available for borrowing;
  4. Participants must ensure that the borrowed musical instruments remain intact after use. If there is any damage or destruction of the instruments, the organizer reserves the right to compensation.
  5. The participants who have borrowed percussion instruments or equipment, will be notified by the Organizer for the time of warm-up practice; others using their own percussion instruments will be notified of the time of loading-in;
  6. Warm-up rooms are available for participants. No piano is equipped in the warm-up rooms. The warm-up rooms for Harp, Guzheng and Yangqin solo categories will be equipped with corresponding musical instruments.
