The original poetic drama Peer Gynt by great Norwegian dramatist Henrik Johan Ibsen and music by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg have made this play an unparalleled classic. Inspired by Norwegian folklore, Peer Gynt is full of magical elements. The protagonist Peer Gynt, who loves fantasy, idles about when he is young, leads an unruly life in his middle years, and is impoverished in his late years. In his kaleidoscopic life, he travels from forests in northern Europe to deserts in northern Africa, experiencing various vicissitudes of life, and eventually finds its true meaning in the embrace of his lover.

Revolving around incidental music by Grieg, this play is an innovative reinterpretation of the classic through 22 characters performed by one person based on the script rewritten by the renowned music critic Yuan-Pu Chiao. Accomplished actor David Wang will give his best to interpret all the characters in this play with his versatile voice. Famous conductor Zhang Jiemin and soprano Guo Sen* will team up with the Macao Orchestra and the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra Chorus to present a complete music experience of Peer Gynt. The brand new cross-disciplinary team will take the audience on a journey of appreciating the beauty of integrating music and drama while also exploring the extraordinary insights and creative ideas of Ibsen.

Duration: Approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, including one interval
Performed in Mandarin, lyrics with Chinese and English surtitles

* Due to the unforeseen circumstances, Li Xintong could not travel to Macao and will be replaced by soprano Guo Sen.
