Check-in the VIVA spirit of the Parade
The “Parade through Macao, Latin City” invites residents and tourists to take part by accessing a specially created event on the social network “Facebook” titled “Check-in the VIVA spirit of the Parade”.
From the 7th until the 20th of December, Visitors can use their smartphones to “check-in” at this Facebook event page and get acquainted with the parade route. On the 19th and 20th of December, it will be possible to sign up to receive a commemorative scarf, badges or a set of stickers for participants to wear on parade day. The items may be picked up at the Macao Conservatory’s School of Music on Rua do Volong, at Tap Seac Gallery or at the Tourism Activities Centre.
Mobile App “Parade Shoot and Like”
To promote the “Parade through Macau, Latin City”, the organiser is releasing an iPhone app called “Parade Shoot and Like”. Users can download and install the application and gain immediate access to information on the parade route. On parade day, when users go near any of the streets or locations on the route, they can take a picture of the environment and instantly post it online, as well as access photos uploaded by other users, thereby sharing with the world the wonderful historical centre of Macao.

Photography contest
To encourage the population’s active participation in the parade and a citywide celebration of the 12th Anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, the Cultural Affairs Bureau, together with The Photographic Society of Macao, is launching a photography contest with the “Parade through Macao, Latin City” as its theme. The contest will provide an exchange platform for professional and amateur photographers and allow even more residents and tourists to experience the magnificence of Macao’s cultural events. Contestants will be divided between Youth and General age groups, and participation is open to all. Submissions must focus on one or more aspects of the December 20th Parade, such as the joyous atmosphere, the performances, close-ups and highlights. The selection committee will choose the three best works and award another ten honorary mentions. We invite all photography lovers to register in this competition. The deadline for submissions is January 15th, 2012.
