Tsai received her Doctor of Musical Arts from Boston University and Master of Arts in piano performance from New York University, under the guidance of Antonio Barbosa and Maria Clodes-Jaguaribe. She has held piano recitals at the Carnegie Hall and in Boston and Toronto. Since returning to Taiwan, she has dedicated herself to piano teaching and many of her students have won awards in international competitions.

Believing music education is a continuous process, Tsai has developed a series of piano teaching materials and pedagogical methods for elementary to advanced level learners. She has been invited to be a jury member in piano competitions and university entrance examinations. Currently, she is a professor at Tsing Hua University in Taiwan and Taiwan University of Arts, teaching piano and piano pedagogy courses.
