Yi Fan-Chiang

Yi Fan-Chiang emigrated to study in Germany at the age of 13 and received the Konzertexam from the Hanover University of Music and Drama. He then worked as a lecturer after graduation and substituted for Professor Tomislav Baynov at the Trossingen University of Music, instructing piano in master’s and doctoral degrees for three years. Until now, he has received more than 30 awards.

He has made regular appearances in the U.S., Europe and Asia, and given piano lectures and masterclasses in Germany and China for many times. He has participated in Braunschweig Classix Festival and Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany, Ibiza International Music Festival in Spain, Fête de la Musique in France, and in performances in Austria, Russia, Israel, China, among others.

Yi has been instructed, supported and influenced profoundly by many important contemporary musicians, such as piano maestro Lazar Berman; Russian pianist and conductor Igor Zhukov, who is of paramount importance in interpreting the works by Scriabin; and Dan Zhaoyi, the respected teacher of pianist Yundi Li.

He has collaborated with various musicians abroad, including the internationally renowned violinist Joshua Bell; Szymanowski Quartet; Kathrin ten Hagen, professor at the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig; Lee Fang-Yi, professor of piano at Villeneuve Saint-Georges Conservatoire in France; and famous Chinese erhu players Zhao Lei and George Gao.
