The “39^th Macao Young Musicians Competition”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was successfully concluded. The awards ceremony was held recently, in which four Special Prizes were presented to the winners. This year’s “Cultural Affairs Bureau Prize” was awarded to Choi Long Cheng. The President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian, the Head of the Department of Performing Arts Development, Iu Wai Man, and the Head of the Division of Performing Arts, Chou Wai In, presented the awards.

Due to the impact of the novel coronavirus pneumonia, part of the members of the jury of the 39^th Macao Young Musicians Competition, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, are unable to visit Macao. In order to ensure a smooth progress of the Competition, this edition of the Competition will adopt an “online assessment of recorded performances and announcement of competition results”.

The 39^th Macao Young Musicians Competition, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, will start on 11 July. The provisional Competition schedule is now available on the Macao Young Musicians Competition website (www.icm.gov.mo/cjmm).

In order to actively promote the development of classical music in Macao, encourage young local musicians to explore their musical potential, and provide them with valuable stage experience and learning opportunities, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) organizes the “39^th Macao Young Musicians Competition” in July and August. Applications will be open from 18 to 24 March. All interested eligible individuals are welcome to participate.

The “38^th Macao Young Musicians Competition”, organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, was successfully concluded and the awards ceremony was held on 7 February, in which the Special Prizes were presented to the winners. This year’s “Cultural Affairs Bureau Prize” was awarded to Wang Iat Fan Tony. The President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mok Ian Ian, the Head of the Department of Performing Arts Development, Iu Wai Man, and the Head of the Division of Performing Arts, Chou Wai In presented the awards.
