Kuo, Min-Chin

In 2009, Kuo Min-Chin graduated from the seven-year consistent program of the Department of Chinese Music, the Tainan National University of the Arts, where he studied with established musicians. Later, he graduated with an MA from the Department of Chinese Music, at the National Taiwan Academy of Arts, where he studied Guzheng and is now an adjunct lecturer. He is also the head of 3peoplemusic, a Chinese instrumentalist music trio, and a member of C-CAMERATA TAIPEI.
In 2015, Min-Chin was selected as a new talent by the Ministry of Culture of China. In 2014, he published his work Nature – Guzheng Pieces in Heptatonic Scale, complemented by his first homonymous album released in 2015. He was selected as a new talent by the National Performing Arts Center in 2011 and 2013, and also by Chiuko Traditional Orchestra (the 4th edition) in 2012. In 2010, he won the Best Interpretation Award at the 1st Star of Taiwan Traditional Instrument & Tainan Cultural Ambassador Competition. In 2007, he won the First Prize at the 14th Taipei Folk Instrument Competition. From 2002 to 2005, he won the First Prizes at the Plucked and Bowed String Instrument Music Competition of the Chinese Music Association.
Min-Chin has been commissioned to create works by Taiwan’s music groups, including the Chinese Music Association, the Department of Chinese Music of the Tainan National University of the Arts, Da Guran Zheng Orchestra, Yu Lin Zheng Orchestra, and Zhi Xin Zheng Orchestra. He has also played and created with performers, composers, and artists, such as the Literature Theater of the Trend Education Foundation, the show ‘Dialogue with Calligraphers’ featured at the Boulevard Art Festival held in Tainan, besides composing etudes and concert repertoires.
