
Pang Ying was the principal flutist in Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra and is currently the head of programme department of Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, volunteer flute teacher at Shanghai School for the Blind Children, vice president of Shanghai Flute Association, and a member of Flute Committee at China Nationalities Orchestra Society, the Asia Flute Federation, the Shanghai Musicians Association, the Shanghai Film Association and also an “Excellent Volunteer” of Shanghai Charity Foundation.
Pang masters a deep and mellow tone in flute and has a refreshing and dynamic style, being a mature and skilled flutist with a perfect grasp of various stylistic expressions. Besides dedicating to a life of musician, Pang has been a great teacher with many excellent disciples now graduating at reputed schools, in China and abroad. Pang has been teaching flute courses at Shanghai School for the Blind Children, showing his firm beliefs and dedication.
He translated and edited The Finest Etudes for Flute (Shanghai Education Press, 2004) and co-edited Classic Flute Scores (Shanghai Education Press, 2006) with his beloved teacher and famous flutist Tan Mizi.
