Integrated in the “Parade through Macao, Latin City”, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (CAB) organises Street Mime Workshops and Costume and Props Design Workshops, aiming at spreading the Parade’s festive atmosphere to the whole city. The CAB has invited artists from Taiwan and Portugal, respectively, to conduct the workshops, giving citizens interested in street performance an opportunity to participate in this grand event. Both workshops are free of charge. Vacancies are available in limited numbers and reservations are recommended.

The Street Mime Workshops will be guided by Taiwanese mime Sunteck Yao, Artistic Director of L’Enfant S. Physical Theatre, who will help participants understand the human body through talks, movie appreciation and practical exercises during a series of intensive workshops spanning 20 days. The Taiwanese artist will gradually lead attendants into the world of mime and promote an exchange of ideas, in order to create a new interactive show for the “Parade through Macau, Latin City”. These workshops, to be held between December 1st and 19th, from 7.30 to 10pm (from 2 to 7pm on weekends), will be conducted in Chinese (Mandarin).

The Costume and Props Design Workshops will be mentored by members of the integrated arts performing group PIA – Projectos de Intervenção Artística, well versed in street artistic creations that combine performing style and original ideas with the characteristics of each community. Divided into lecture and production modules, these workshops will inspire participants’ imagination, allowing them to create unique and festive costumes and props that will be used by artists on stilts on the Parade day. These workshops, to be held from November 22nd to December 1st, from 7 to 10pm (from 3 to 6pm on weekends), will be conducted in English. The production modules will be held from December 6th to 19th
