Every year, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) organises the “Parade through Macao, Latin City”, providing local associations with a performance platform and an opportunity for them to freely express their creativity while encouraging participants to showcase their creative talent, increasing competitiveness, promoting the development and diversification of Macao’s cultural industries as well as creating opportunities for local artists to observe and conduct exchange activities with international performing groups.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao S.A.R. held the “Parade through Macao, Latin City” in commemoration of the 14th Anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China on December 20th, the day marking the establishment of the Macao S.A.R. The Parade is once again held under the slogans “Peace, Love and Cultural Integration” and “An annual celebration for the entire city – VIVA!”, and this year is themed “The Rhythm of Life”. It attracted viewership of over one hundred thousand including the audience present at the parade, those who watched the live televised broadcast and the simulcast on five outdoor screens at various locations.

The “Parade through Macao, Latin City” organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (CAB) of the Macao S.A.R. Government and supported by a vast array of government institutions and non-government associations, will be held on December 20th, to celebrate Macao’s handover to China. To facilitate residents and tourists’ involvement and enjoyment, the organiser announces several arrangements including traffic/street special measures and a set of instructions to facilitate the public’s circulation.

Integrated in the “Parade through Macao, Latin City”, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (CAB) organises Street Mime Workshops and Costume and Props Design Workshops, aiming at spreading the Parade’s festive atmosphere to the whole city. The CAB has invited artists from Taiwan and Portugal, respectively, to conduct the workshops, giving citizens interested in street performance an opportunity to participate in this grand event. Both workshops are free of charge. Vacancies are available in limited numbers and reservations are recommended.
