Organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, the outreach activity “Street Piano Programme”, integrated in the 33rd Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), has been held in various districts and tourist attractions throughout the city, seeking to invite residents and tourists to play the pianos and convey the concept of “everyone is a musician”. The last stops of the programme will be the Leisure Area at Rua Quatro do Bairro Iao Hon and the Areia Preta Urban Park, starting from today until 29 December, from 10am to 8pm. All residents and tourists are welcome to participate. 

The 33rd Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), concluded successfully with the closing concert “The Yellow River Cantata” on 30 October. The Sejong Soloists and local young violinist Sophia Su will join hands to bring the concert “Serenade of Strings” to the stage; Peter Broderick, a music prodigy from the United States, will guide the audience to embark on a cross-disciplinary musical journey; the closing concert “The Yellow River Cantata” will be presented as a tribute to celebrate and commemorate the 70^th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20^th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China.

Due to the unstable weather conditions observed in the last few days and with the agreement of the Orchestra, the concert “The Vienna Philharmonic” integrated in the 33^rd Macao International Music Festival, organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, originally scheduled to be held at the University of Macau Library Plaza on 21 and 22 October, at 8pm, will be transferred to the Macao Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium, in order to ensure the quality of the performance and the experience of the public. The dates, time, programme and price remain unchanged.

The 33^rd Macao International Music Festival (MIMF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), will present the concert “When the East Meets the West in Music” on 13 October. Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Macao Chinese Orchestra, Liu Sha, will join hands with distinguished Chinese pianist, Sun Yingdi, to present Rhapsody in Blue, a piano concerto integrated with jazz and classical music. Pipa virtuoso Dong Xiaolin will present the pipa concerto Song for the Heaven and Land and the acclaimed Chinese tenor Xue Haoyin will perform the aria Nessun Dorma from the famous Italian opera Turandot as well as the Chinese song Pursuit, offering a feast served with a perfect blend of music from the East and West. Interested music aficionados are advised to take the opportunity to purchase tickets.
