The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) organizes the “Parade through Macao, Latin City” every year, providing local associations with a performance platform and an opportunity for them to freely express their creativity while encouraging participants to showcase their creative talent, increasing competitiveness. This year the “Parade through Macao, Latin City” will be held on 6 December (Sunday). IC calls for applications from the local groups registered in the Identification Services Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region between 8 October and 10 October.

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym), the “Parade through Macau, Latin City”, in celebration of the 15th Anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, took place on December 14, beginning at the Ruins of St. Paul with the opening ceremony “Launch into Space”. The Parade gathered the best local and foreign artists, in a total of over two Thousand artists that performed in streets filled with Latin charm, cheerfully singing and dancing through St. Lazarus’ Quarter up to Tap Seac Square for the grand joint performance “Peace, Love and Cultural Integration”, allowing the whole city to participate and celebrate the occasion of the anniversary of Macao’s handover to China.

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) the ‘Parade through Macao, Latin City’ marking the 15th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China will be held soon. In order to publicise activities along the Parade route, the organiser arranged for its staff to visit and distribute pamphlets in several neighbourhoods on 10th December, an initiative that was well received by the population.

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, in cooperation with other governmental departments and civil entities, pursuant to the “Parade through Macao, Latin City” in celebration of the 15th anniversary of Macao’s Handover to China, a worship ceremony took place on 11 December at St. Paul’s Ruins, at the Largo da Companhia de Jesus, including a lion dance performance and attracting citizens as well as tourists with its lively atmosphere. Present in the worship ceremony were President of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Ung Vai Meng, Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Director of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Leong Lai, Deputy Commissioner of the Fire Services Bureau, Leong Iok Sam, President of the Board of the Macao Association for the Promotion of Exchange between Asia-Pacific and Latin America, Gary Ngai, Chair of the Board of Directors of Air Macau Co, Ltd., Zheng Yan, Representative of President of the Executive Committee of TDM and Acting Director of the Chinese Programming Division of TDM, Ltd., Lok Kong

In order to attract even more residents and tourists to the St. Lazarus’ quarter and to promote more in-depth visits, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) launched the “Installation of Signage Towards St. Lazarus Plan”. The first phase is centred on St. Lazarus’ Church, and directional signage will be installed in its six main surrounding arteries.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau organised the ‘Parade through Macao, Latin City’ to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Macao’s handover to China. This year, a special ‘Face Painting Workshop’ was successfully held from 15 to 30 November 2014. After learning the face painting techniques at the workshop, participants served as painting ambassadors on the day of the Parade, colouring the faces of residents and tourists so that they could get involved in the festive atmosphere and enjoy the exciting ‘Parade through Macao, Latin City’.

VIVA, the Parade mascot, organizes a space party with a mysterious alien entity, allowing the world to benefit from the power of “Peace, Love and Cultural Integration”.

The event gathers local and foreign performing groups from different countries that will put on a show through characteristic streets of Macao in an unforgettable journey of cultural fusion under the motto “An Annual Celebration for the Entire City – VIVA”.

Organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) the ‘Parade through Macao, Latin City’ Press Conference and the ‘VIVA Launch into Space’ Ceremony are open to the public at 2:00pm on Sunday 23rd November at the SCM Old Ladies’ House, in the St. Lazarus District. The ceremony begins with the premiere of the promotional video of the event introducing the theme of this year’s Parade. Other activities will include an exhibition of the winning entries in last year’s photography competition as well as a candy corner and a photography zone. All are welcome to join the event and experience the festive atmosphere of the parade.
