The banner is an inscription written by Jiang Zemin, the former President of the People’s Republic of China, on the eve of the handover on 18th December, 1999. It measures 207 cm in length and 86 cm in width. The inscription, titled ‘The Initiation of Macao in the New Century’, symbolises the start of the new century of prosperity and stability for Macao after the handover.
