Programme Notes

Tap Fado is a hybrid performance merging dance with a music concert. Like most urban musical movements, fado had its own choreographic expression. In Tap Fado, Jonas&Lander aim to reinterpret and revive the act of tapping fado, where dance functions as a percussive instrument in harmony with voice and guitars.

Biographical Notes

Jonas&Lander

Jonas&Lander, a duo of Portuguese choreographers, have contributed to each other’s imaginary since 2011 when they began their collaboration. They stood out with Cascas d’OvO a work that took them to several national and international stages. In 2021, Jonas&Lander proposed to rescue the lost dances of fado, with Tap Fado, a hybrid show between music and dance premiered at the DDD Festival. The production has been a national and international success, having been nominated by the newspapers Expresso and Público as the best dance show of the year.
