Zhou is a National First Class Performer, a professor at Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, the conductor of the Chinese Orchestra of the Music Middle School Affiliated to the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, the director of China Nationalities Orchestra Society, the artistic director of Jade Guzheng Ensemble and the successor of qinzheng.
Zhou is the winner of a number of music competitions. He has recorded a teaching DVD and several albums, and published guzheng sheet music books and tutorial books. Guzheng pieces composed and arranged by him include Ode to the Land of Qin, Jiao Yulu and A Dream Back to Linan. Ode to the Land of Qin won the Outstanding Work Award at The 10th Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music, Jiao Yulu and A Dream Back to Linan won the Silver and Bronze Awards at the 10th Zhejiang Province Music and Dance Festival respectively.
