Wei Ran

Wei is an associate professor of percussion and a supervisor for master’s students at the Traditional Chinese Instruments Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, a co-advisor for master’s programmes at Peking University, and director of the Percussion Committee of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society. After graduating from the Central Conservatory of Music, he joined the faculty and is now studying for a doctoral degree.

He has worked with the China National Symphony Orchestra, China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra, China National Traditional Orchestra, China National Opera House, China Film Orchestra, National Peking Opera Company, Beijing Chinese Orchestra and The Macao Chinese Orchestra. He has also been to different places for performances and exchanges. In 2014, he took part in an event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between China and France, and was awarded honorary citizenship by the Mayor of Selles-sur-Cher in France.
