Wang Zhaoyuan

Wang, born in Zhengzhou, was admitted to the Orchestral Instruments Department of the Central Conservatory of Music in 2005, and studied under Yuan Yuan. During his studies, he served as the principal clarinet of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra and the concertmaster of the China Youth Symphonic Band, premiered Chen Yi’s Chinese Ancient Dances in China, and collaborated with China Philharmonic Orchestra. After graduation, he worked at Hanzhou Philharmonic Orchestra and then furthered his studies in Germany in 2011 under Manfred Preis, clarinettist of the Berliner Philharmoniker. He entered the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts in 2012, where he also served as the principal clarinet of its symphony orchestra, and received his Master’s degree in 2014. Wang has been invited to perform in concerts and be an adjudicator of competitions. He is currently a clarinet instructor at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music and a director of the Zhejiang Band Directors Association.
