Sun Huang

Sun is an erhu performer, and a professor and PhD supervisor at the Traditional Chinese Instruments Department of the Central Conservatory of Music. She has studied erhu under Lin Xinming, Wang Lili and Liu Changfu. She is serving as the deputy secretary general of the Huqin Professional Committee of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society and vice-president of the Erhu Society of the Beijing Musicians Association.

Sun won Emerging Artist of the Year in Chinese Traditional Music in 2009-2010 by the Liu Tianhua and Abing Traditional Chinese Music Foundation of China, First Place in the youth category of erhu in the CCTV National Competition for Chinese Musical Instruments 2009, Gold Medal in Erhu Competition of The 6th Chinese Golden Bell Award for Music, and first place in the Young Professional Category of The 2nd “Dragons Music Cup” Chinese Musical Instruments (Erhu) International Competition. She has released ten albums, of which the Ode to Hero & Ode to Love – Erhu: Sun Huang was honoured the Best Performance Award of Instrumental Music in The 10th China Gold Record Awards. She has held erhu recitals and talks, and was shortlisted as a beneficiary of the Young Artistic Talent Projects under the China National Arts Fund in 2019.
