Niu Fanqiong

Niu graduated from the Central Conservatory of Music with a Master’s degree in Yangqin, and currently is an associate professor of yangqin at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. She learnt the instrument at an early age under Cao Jianhui and received guidance from Lu Lin, Ying Haotong, Cheng Haihua and Huang He.

Niu has toured Germany, the United Kingdom, Singapore, France and the United States for cultural exchanges and performances. She is the Gold Award winner of the Traditional Ensemble Category in the 2nd Chinese Instrumental Music Competition, the Professional Category in the 3rd Chinese Instrument International Competition World Cup in the United States and the Youth Teacher Category Group A in the 1st Chinese Dulcimer Art Festival. She has given yangqin recitals, published Yangqin Etudes, which is a textbook for undergraduate students of Chinese instrumental music performance, and released an album of yangqin music.
