Miao is a National First Class Performer, the director of the Pipa Committee of China Nationalities Orchestra Society and Chinese Musicians Association, the executive director of Guangdong Province Nationalities Orchestra Society and the chairman of its Pipa, Sanxian and Liuqin Committee. She currently teaches and serves as a supervisor for Master’s degree students at the Department of Chinese Music of Xinghai Conservatory of Music.

Miao graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music and was the Principal Pipa of Guangdong National Orchestra. She is an active performer and has performed in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, South Africa, Japan, Korea, Malaysia etc. She has given recitals and published several albums. In 2016, she founded the Linfeng Pipa Chamber Orchestra which received awards from several national pipa competitions.
