Ma obtained a Master of Music at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in 2015. He is currently the principal suona and guan player of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, a part-time suona instructor and was a visiting artist at HKAPA.
Ma is one of the founding members of The Majestic G and Zenwester and won Award for Young Artist (Music) at the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards 2016 and Second Prize (Suona) in the Folk Instruments category of the 16th OSAKA International Music Competition. He has performed with Anthony Wong, Steve Wong, Endy Chow, Ted Lo and Sticky Rice from Taiwan, and has been invited by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, Hong Kong International Airport, Ear Up Music, and the West Kowloon Cultural District to give crossover concerts.
