Kwan graduated from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) with distinction in 2009, majoring in Oboe with a minor in English Horn, under the tutelage of Yiu Song Lam. He then obtained a Master of Music from the Karlsruhe University of Music in 2011 under the guidance of Thomas Indermühle.

Kwan has been an English Horn player of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra since 2013, and has performed with Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Macao Orchestra and Singapore Symphony Orchestra. He is now teaching at the School of Music of HKAPA and The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
