Cheung King Lun

After graduating from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Cheung was awarded a scholarship to study at the Birmingham Conservatoire in the United Kingdom. He then furthered his studies in Paris and Geneva, where he was admitted to the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève, studying under bassoonist Roger Birnstingl. During his stay in Europe, he performed with various orchestras, and toured with the Asian Youth Orchestra as a soloist.

Dedicated to bassoon teaching, Cheung is a founding member of the Hong Kong Wind Kamerata and has established Eastern Winds Ensemble to promote chamber music for wind instruments. He has served as a guest bassoonist or contra-bassoonist of various orchestras in China, Singapore and Thailand. From 2009 to 2010, he was the Principal Bassoon of the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. He has been a jury member of the Macao Young Musicians Competitions every other year since 2012. In 2016, he toured Europe with Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and currently teaches at The Education University of Hong Kong.
